Some Dating Expert Advice: You’ll Know It’s Right Because You Won’t Have to Fight (for commitment)
Smart and beautiful, with a contagious smile, Lisa Reingold found herself stuck in a messy romance. The only guy in her life at the time was trying to date both her and another woman. Despite her obvious displeasure and disinterest in the whole situation, Lisa was surprised with her own reluctance to say “Sayonara” and move on with her life.
She kept thinking, wondering, maybe even wishing that the man would change, that something in his mind would switch paths and that he’d suddenly or slowly start heading toward the kind of commitment she’d been searching for.
Fast-forward to Lisa today, 42 and recently married to the love of her life (not the man mentioned above, fortunately). Her guy is Mark, a former college acquaintance, Facebook connection, Boston-LA long distance courter and now loving husband. When she met Mark, Lisa was amazed that all of those things she had worried and fought for so much in past relationships were gone for good. Within minutes, they both realized that the constant fight for commitment, and everything that goes with it, wasn’t necessary.
So how come Lisa couldn’t have found Mark on her own? Where does Dating with Dignity come in? Well, as Lisa proudly points out, if she hadn’t following the heavy, yet sweet, guiding hand of Marni, she would have tried to stick it out with the double-dater. She wouldn’t have been making herself available for the right kind of love and commitment she wanted. She wouldn’t have been ready to accept the moments and opportunities presented before her everyday. She wouldn’t have met Mark. “It’s hard to make the wrong choices when someone is there to hold you accountable.”
Lisa’s story paints us an important picture: “Don’t be afraid to give up on a wrong relationship, but never give up searching for the right relationship.” Having an outside perspective is essential in recognizing when the relationship is wrong for you and identifying when it could be right. Lisa shows us that love and commitment come naturally in a relationship. Keep up a positive attitude and don’t get stuck in a cycle of self-defeat! Thanks Lisa for your Love Success Story!
